Metheringham Animal Welfare Supporters (MAWS)

Founder Joyce Muncey, who died in November 2023, left the balance of her estate to MAWS and that enabled us to give £1,500 to the 4 charities nominated at the previous AGM along with £500 each to the remaining 10 charities that MAWS supports. This was boosted by some very generous donations both at Joyce’s funeral and in the following months.

MAWS is a volunteer only organisation which has donated £118,412 to animal groups since we set up in 2000.We are delighted that our founder Joyce Muncey was selected in the final three of the BBC Radio Lincolnshire Make A Difference Fur-ever Friend category for 2019. This is a massive tribute and compliment to Joyce and the team.

Metheringham Animal Welfare Supporters (or MAWS for short) was formed in 2000 by a group of volunteers in the Lincolnshire village ably led by Joyce Muncey.

We work hard to raise funds which are then donated to four Lincolnshire animal organisations chosen by our members at our AGM every year in August.

Following Founder Joyce Muncey’s death in November 2023, MAWS has been able to recommence the sterling work she started.

We have had procedural problems with sorting out the MAWS paperwork, but should now start getting back to normal and will be looking to recommence fundraising events in the coming year.

A new Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer have been appointed and the accounts for the financial year 14 August 2023 to 13 August 2024 were presented at the AGM held on 21 November 2024.

The AGM was understandably late due to the paperwork surrounding Joyce’s death and the handover of MAWS.

It was agreed that membership should increase from £1 to £5 per annum as this had remained unchanged since inception and no longer covered even just the basic cost of the public liability insurance.

We desperately need new members, and for past members to hopefully renew their membership, so please use the Join Us page to find out how and allow us to honour Joyce’s wish to continue MAWS legacy of fundraising on behalf of local Lincolnshire charities.
